Floral Basic Skills II is where design becomes purposeful, structured, and experience-focused. This immersive three-day course is created for those ready to move beyond foundational arranging and begin working with flowers the way they are used in weddings, installations, and styled environments.
This is not about making more arrangements.
This is about understanding how florals function within a space, a moment, and a story.
Hosted in our Calgary studio, this course blends technical refinement, creative direction, and real-world application, using premium materials and professional techniques.

Course Experience
Day One
Event Foundations & Wearable Florals
We begin with what most people overlook—but professionals rely on.
You’ll learn how flowers perform in real event conditions—timing, handling, and design decisions that ensure your work looks its best from setup to event time.
From there, we move into precision-based design through wearable florals:
- Corsages
- Boutonnieres
- Floral accents
These pieces build discipline, control, and attention to detail—skills that translate directly into larger work.
You’ll also be introduced to garlands and connective elements, often used to soften, link, and elevate event spaces.
Day Two
Structured Arrangements & Mechanics
This is where design becomes more intentional.
You’ll create compote-style arrangements and work with structured mechanics, including floral foam and alternative techniques.
The focus is not just on building—but on understanding:
- Balance and proportion
- Placement and visual flow
- How arrangements function in ceremonies, tables, and installations
This day shifts you from “arranging flowers” to designing with purpose.
Day Three
Large-Scale Design & Full Installation Styling
This is the transformation.
As a group, you will create large-scale floral pieces and then bring everything together into a cohesive, multi-level installation—designed to reflect a wedding or styled event setting.
You will see, in real time, how:
- Individual designs interact
- Scale changes perception
- Cohesion creates impact
This is where everything clicks.
Depending on group size, a professional photographer may be invited to capture the final installation—giving you imagery you can use for your own portfolio.
